ESADE Foundation and Caja de Ingenieros Foundation Sign Agreement on Educational Aid for Talented Youth
The agreement will enable students to participate in the Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) on scholarship
Barcelona, July 12, 2011— With the goal of reinforcing its Scholarship Fund, ESADE has signed an agreement with the Caja de Ingenieros Foundation under which the latter will make annual donations over the next four years. With this agreement, the Caja de Ingenieros Foundation becomes a patron of ESADE’s Corporate Scholarship Programme. Caja de Ingenieros’s contribution will enable two students to participate in the Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) on scholarship each year.
Moreover, this collaboration agreement harnesses the value of the ESADE brand to that of the Caja de Ingenieros Foundation in the service of a common interest. The union of the two entities will strengthen ties between the two organisations and accelerate the pursuit of shared goals. At the signing ceremony, Eugenia Bieto, Director General of ESADE, thanked the Caja de Ingenieros Foundation for its commitment to the institution. The ceremony was also attended by Ramon Ferrer, President of the Caja de Ingenieros Foundation, and Víctor Cardona, the bank’s Director of Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility.
In her remarks, Ms. Bieto highlighted "the importance of the attitude and responsibility of Caja de Ingenieros, which, through donations such as these, helps to tear down geographical and economic barriers and stimulate the education of young people who, now more than ever before, need someone willing to trust in their talent, make a commitment to them, open doors for them and offer new opportunities."
Mr. Ferrer then observed: "Our commitment to education and training as fundamental factors in personal and collective development has been a defining characteristic of Caja de Ingenieros throughout its more than 40 years of history," adding that "the current recession requires that today’s students – tomorrow’s professionals – undergo rigorous training aligned with the business needs of the future, and this, without a doubt, is something that ESADE provides."
300 scholarship students study at ESADE each year
Over the 2010-2011 academic year, donations made by entities such as the Caja de Ingenieros Foundation enabled ESADE to dedicate 1.7 million euros to scholarships aimed at attracting highly talented young students. Indeed, over the past academic year, ESADE’s Scholarship Fund has enabled more than 300 students to participate in bachelor’s, MBA and PhD programmes on talent scholarships. For undergraduate students, the total amount of scholarship funds disbursed increased by 23% over the previous year, reaching a total of 845,000 euros. This amount covered 254 scholarships, which were awarded to 72% of the students who applied for one.
