ESADE and Catalana Occidente Sign a Collaboration Agreement to Support the Training of Talented Young People
A donation from the Jesús Serra Foundation will support ESADE's Scholarship Programme, which each year gives out 1.7 million euros to a total of 300 students
Barcelona, November 4, 2011 - The Jesús Serra Foundation, a part of the Catalana Occidente Group, signed a collaboration agreement today with ESADE and its Scholarship Programme. The signing ceremony was chaired by Eugenia Bieto, Director General of ESADE, and Federico Halpern, President of the Jesús Serra Foundation. Under the new agreement, the foundation will provide scholarships for two talented ESADE students. The scholarships will open up opportunities for economically disadvantaged students who have a good education, interests and the talent to develop their business skills.
Mr. Halpern stressed the importance of high-level education in today’s world: "We need to provide the best possible opportunities to talented young people, the future of our business community. This is especially important in times such as these." Ms. Bieto highlighted the importance of collaboration agreements, like this one, aimed at fostering talent: "This project, which to a large extent was made possible by the interest and generosity of institutions like the Jesús Serra Foundation, fills us with special pride, since it shows a true commitment to education as a means of promoting equal opportunity among young people. At ESADE, year after year we have been increasing the number of scholarships available thanks to agreements such as this one, because we believe that talent must override economic barriers."
Over the past academic year, ESADE granted a total of 300 scholarships, primarily to students in the undergraduate (Business Administration and Law) and MBA programmes. These scholarships have totalled more than 1.7 million euros, and have been granted to more than 70% of applicants.
Through the Scholarship Programme, the Jesús Serra Foundation hopes to promote high-quality education. ESADE is a world-renowned business school with campuses in Barcelona, Sant Cugat, Madrid and Buenos Aires. For many years, the Jesús Serra Foundation has placed its trust in ESADE’s academics, and has worked closely with the institution in academic development.
