Research is to the education system what stem cells are to living organisms. Without research, there can be no quality teaching. In the absence of new knowledge, the teaching that exists will be of little benefit. Knowledge that is to be transmitted should be generated internally as a priority, and ESADE has directed a large part of its efforts to doing this in recent years. Even so, this is still not enough, and we will have to go further.
At ESADE, we hope to focus on conducting more research and, to do so, we need more resources: reallocating existing resources and providing new resources for research tasks.
> We aim to increase financial resources for research from 4.5 million euros to 12 million in 5 years, and achieve an external contribution of 80%, compared with the currently figure of 60%.
> We aim to increase the number of annual research projects, taking this from the current figure of 75 per year to 100 while, at the same time, enhancing the quality and impact of these projects.
> We aim to increase scientific journal publications from an annual 45 articles to an annual average of 100 (with a minimum of 60% of these articles being published in the world’s leading journals).
> We aim to increase the number of people engaged in different research roles, such as faculty-researchers, senior researchers, research assistants, technicians and managers, from the current 138 to 200 in the next 5 years. The incorporation of new researchers, the promotion of visiting researchers, the incorporation of technicians, junior researchers and post-docs will also enable ESADE to emerge as a leader in the field of research and knowledge generation.
