DONORS AND STUDENTS MEET ON 1ST ANNIVERSARY OF SCHOLARSHIP CAMPAIGN
Emotional speeches make for a unique meeting
On 9th June, ESADE hosted its Talent Gathering, an event aimed at demonstrating first-hand, to scholarship students and donors alike, the value of making annual donations to the ESADE Scholarship Programme. ESADE currently offers scholarships to over 300 talented students from more than 26 different countries.
Sponsored by Eugenia Bieto, Director General of ESADE, the event brought together corporate and alumni donors, university and MBA students, scholars, members of the ESADE Scholarship Committee, and directors of secondary schools. All of the participants were involved in the project’s “chain of talent” in one way or another.
The emotional highlights of the evening were the speeches by Mar Massafrets, a Lic&MBA ‘05 alumna and current donor, and Gemma Lligadas, a scholarship student in the fifth edition of ESADE’s Bachelor and Master in Law. The audience was moved by the young women’s account of being able to make their dreams come true thanks to their ESADE education. Eugenia Bieto, who herself was able to study thanks to an “honour loan,” declared that, at ESADE, talent outweighs all financial barriers.
Enrique López-Viguria, President of the Scholarship Committee and Technical Secretary of ESADE, highlighted the diversity and commitment of ESADE’s scholarship students and the fact that scholarship expenditures for university students have increased by 23% in the past year. Ms. Massafrets called on alumni to continue to support the Scholarship Campaign in the coming years, whether personally or through collective efforts. She mentioned the example of some graduating classes that have already banded together to create scholarships.
