Biography
He graduated in Philosophy at Bergmanskolleg, Pullach bei München (Germany), in Social Sciences at the Università Gregoriana (Rome), and in Economics at the Universitat de Barcelona. He has a Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics, a Docteur en Sciences Politiques from the IUHEI of the Université de Genève and a Doctor Honoris Causa from the Universidad Centroamericana in El Salvador.
He is a Professor, Director of the Department of Economics and Academic Vice-Chancellor of the Universidad Centroamericana in El Salvador, and a Professor at ESADE. He is an Economist in the Project Analysis Department of the Inter-American Development Bank (Washington), a teacher at the IDB Inter-American Institute for Social Development and is presently an IDB consultant.
He has specialized in international economics subjects and his doctoral thesis dealt with the balance of payments in El Salvador.
He is a specialist in subjects concerning the international monetary system, development, foreign debt and economic reform in Latin America, with many years' experience in Latin American subjects at an academic level and in the IDB on the ground.
He has studied other subjects, such as solidarity, human rights and institutional reform.
He has been a Professor at ESADE since 1982.
