Biography
Professor Segarra holds a degree in Business Science (1988) and an MBA (1990) from ESADE, and a degree in Business Administration (1995) from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). He is also certified by Harvard Business School as a participant-centred learning facilitator. He began his career working as Product Manager for a commercial bank (BBVA). His subsequent experience includes serving for Hewlett Packard for over 5 years in Production, Logistics and Finance, supporting New Product Development (NPD) and the Marketing Department. He acted as Managing Director of Geraplant Associats, a family-owned agribusiness company, for over ten years before selling it. He has been a member of the board of directors of CORMA SCCL. More recently, he joined BuenaIdea, a consulting firm on creativity and innovation, as a strategic partner.
Professor Segarra has been teaching at ESADE since 1992, dividing his time between lecturing and his other professional activities. He served as Director of ESADE's Professional Masters Degree Programme in Operations for 8 years, and most recently as the Director of the Leadership Development Programmes within the Executive Education Unit at ESADE Business School in Barcelona.
Professor Segarra teaches Operations Management and Creativity and Innovation-related topics on undergraduate and graduate programmes including International FTMBA, Executive MBA and Executive Education programmes in both Open and In-Company Training formats. In relation with this, he has delivered programmes for companies such as Telefónica, Santander, Repsol, Bunge, Epson, and Syngenta, amongst others. Professor Segarra has also taught at ICDA in Córdoba and Buenos Aires (Argentina), FAE in Curitiba (Brazil), ORT in Montevideo (Uruguay), BMI in Vilnius (Lithuania) and EGE in Porto (Portugal). He is Visiting Professor at the Art Center College of Design (ACCD) in Pasadena, California.
