One of the main challenges facing Catalonia’s Education Service is providing the management capabilities conferred on the body by the new Education Act. ESADE, with its long track record in training managers in both the private and public sectors, has decided to exploit its expertise to provide training for school principals.

ESADE’s commitment to education dates right back to the business school’s foundation in 1958. Recently, this commitment has been renewed through Catalonia’s National Education Pact. The course is a token of this commitment and aims to redress the current lack of training regarding the management of publicly-funded education centres.

The course’s main purpose is to develop the management competences of those running public and grant-aided education centres whilst adapting proven management training approaches to take account of the special features of the non-university sector. Course implementation strikes a balance between faculty drawn from the world of education and those specialising in management.

The programme is currently undergoing official certification by the Department of Education of the Catalan Autonomic Government.

The programme’s target audience comprises Principals of publicly-funded schools, whether State-run or grant aided.
