International Outlook
A strong international vocation
|
In a shrinking world where frontiers are vanishing and markets are increasingly global, an international management style is becoming more vital than ever. The EMBA program meets this need by offering participants the chance to go on two study tours abroad, thus providing a unique experience of international business.

A leading UK business school is chosen for the first international study tour in order to build upon the various elements comprising Stage 3, Designing the Strategy. Students on the study tour will find it an exhilarating management experience. Outstanding contents, lectures by business leaders, visits to cutting-edge companies, and a host of cultural activities make up an extremely attractive study package. The Tour also provides intense exposure to an international environment in the first year of the program.
Stage 5: Leading the Future provides a brilliant finish to the EMBA. The program includes participation in a second international tour at one of the best management training schools in the US. This seminar reveals American pragmatism and objectivity at its best. The approach to teaching is highly dynamic, as one would expect in a country with a reputation as "a learning society".
The Barcelona Class of 2004 will visit Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland. Before going on the Tour, participants are evaluated through an ECI (Emotional Competence Inventory). The program is completed in Cleveland, where ESADE offers participants the chance of meeting Emotional Intelligence experts Daniel Goleman, author of "Emotional Intelligence" and Richard Boyatzis, author of "Primal Leadership". The sessions are complemented by lectures on the applications of Emotional Intelligence in companies. Weatherhead is ranked first in the world in the Organizational Behaviour field(Business Week 2003) yet another indicator of the quality of this week-long international study tour.
The Madrid Class of 2004 will go to McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. This business school occupies third place in the world ranking for information systems (Financial Times 2004). The seminar will be titled "Leading in the Global Economy" and will adopt a technological perspective. Various business leaders and the schools faculty will discuss the problems of implementing company strategy and the vital role played by leadership competences and effective communication in rising to the challenge. Austin is one of the two main centres driving US high-tech industry and many big technology companies are based there. Accordingly, the academic content of the Tour will be complemented by a visit to Dell and to BMC Software, giving an excellence insight into American business
Asia: New Emerging Realities
During this stage, entitled Asia (China and India): New Emerging Realities, students will visit a prestigious school in Asia. This is not just the classic exercise of reproducing our reality in an Asian environment. A combination of local and Western scholars and businesspeople will offer perspective on a new business environment enjoying spectacular and highly dynamic growth.
