The Wall Street Journal has once again recognized ESADE as one of the leading business schools worldwide. On this occasion, the ESADE Executive MBA (EMBA) is rated for the first time as number one in Europe, and is ranked 17th in the world. The newspaper measured the quality of EMBAs offered by business schools across the globe, only 25 of which made it into the ranking.
The Wall Street Journal's first survey of this kind is based on the results of interviews to graduating students and companies alike and evaluates the quality of executive programmes. Second-year ESADE EMBA students hold the programme in high esteem, so much so that it earns the number 8 spot worldwide. This favourable judgement bears several factors in mind, such as the quality of the course content, its workplace relevance, access to careers services, the quality of faculty as well as the extent to which classmates make a positive contribution to the learning experience.

Leadership and management skills
One of the most innovative attributes of The Wall Street Journal ranking is the introduction of questions regarding management skills and the link between the responses from corporate and student sources. ESADE students highly rate the skills set they acquire during the course. Skills which in turn correspond precisely with those required by companies when recruiting new employees, for instance, strategic thinking, ability to work across multi-functional areas, management and leadership, amongst others. Here, in the development of management skills, is where the ESADE EMBA is rated the fifth best in the whole world.
The publication of the Wall Street Journal ranking strictly adheres to the answers from companies who employ Executive MBA graduates and the graduating class itself. This first survey analyses responses from a total of 4,060 students and 455 companies from a wide range of business sectors.
To calculate the final ranking, the student, corporate and skills scores were added up, with the student and corporate scores each given a weight of 40% of the final total and the skills score weighted at 20%.
