“In the world of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, we’re at the very beginning – just like the Internet in the early 1990s. It’s here to stay, and in the next ten years will witness an evolution towards a cryptoeconomy,” declared Carlos Domingo, former CEO of Telefónica R&D and founder of SPiCE, one of world’s largest cryptocurrency-based investment funds, at the annual meeting of the ESADE Foundation Assembly of Trustees.

Mr. Domingo, an expert on cryptocurrencies and bitcoin, gave a talk entitled “The Internet of Value: The Next Wave of Disruption and Innovation at the Hands of Cryptoeconomics and Blockchain” to representatives of the various companies and foundations that make up the ESADE Foundation Assembly of Trustees. “Bitcoin cannot be devalued; it’s a safe haven. It’s a store of value, like gold,” he explained in his talk on trends in the cryptocurrency world.

Eugenia Bieto, Director General of ESADE, gave an overview of the past year at ESADE. Dr. Bieto discussed the school’s challenges as well as its focus on internationalisation, its faculty and research development efforts, its commitment to innovation, the development of the school’s identity, its mission and its social responsibility initiatives. She also highlighted ESADE’s recent growth and improvements in various economic indicators. Joaquín Uriach, President of the ESADE Foundation, then took the floor to discuss ESADE’s vision for the coming years. In his remarks, Mr. Uriach highlighted the importance of collaborating with companies and foundations.

The lunch discussion featured the participation of presidents, CEOs and executives from organisations represented on the ESADE Foundation Assembly of Trustees as well as guest companies.
