Headhunters and Specialist Recruitment Companies

Currently most offers for posts in middle and top management in the market are handled by specialist recruitment companies (also known as Headhunters).

In the past these management posts were filled by internal promotion. However an increasingly cut-throat market is forcing companies to change their practices. It is no longer enough for managers to have extensive and diverse knowledge and a series of specific personal skills and abilities, they also have to bring in fresh business experience. That is why companies are leaving this kind of selection in the hands of Headhunters or recruitment specialists.

Specialist recruiters have wide knowledge of the employment market, extensive personnel data bases and a huge network of contacts. Their efforts to find the ideal person for each client means they act as a bridge between company and candidate, showing great discretion in contacts with candidates and in general maximum professionalism throughout the whole recruitment process.

Among the qualities most highly valued by these recruiters are:

  • A good academic background, preferably with MBA training.
  • Interesting employment experience showing effective and successful results in professional performance in different companies.
  • Being au fait with the business community (state-of-the-art management trends, languages, technologies, etc.)
  • International experience and fluent English with competence in another foreign language a plus.
  • The personal and professional abilities that will ensure constructive leadership of teams, providing tangible results for the company.

Being interviewed by one of these recruitment specialists is an interesting experience for any professional. Even if there is no specific offer at the time of interview, it is important for them to know you for any future posts that might come onto their books.
