Investment Banking

Interviews for Investment Banking or Sales and Trading require that you have at least some understanding of Finance and Accounting as well as strong interest in the sector, quantitative skills, determination and the ability to think on your feet.

The selection process for Finance positions is typically comprised of a series of interviews broken into two or three rounds where you will meet increasingly senior people from the organization. The final round may take the form of a "Super Saturday" where the bank will invite a number of candidates to meet with interviewers on a rotational basis and may also require that you participate in finance games or presentations.

The Finance sector has been known for some of the most stressful selection processes, with interviewers deliberately putting candidates under pressure by asking tough questions, behaving in an arrogant manner or strongly disagreeing with the candidates responses. You should always try to remain calm under pressure, have an opinion and be able to justify your responses with reasoned argument. The banks want to see how you would react when having to deal with difficult clients.
