The Thank You Letter

The main objective of the Thank You Letter is to reiterate your interest in the company and the job, and to underscore again the reasons why you are the best candidate for that position. The Thank You Letter should be written after an interview (usually a day after the interview) and should be directed to the person who interviewed you. Always remember to ask for the business cards of the people who interviewed you to know their personal details and to make sure you write them correctly.

Even though this letter is optional and not utilized much in Europe (although common in the U.S.), it is an additional opportunity to differentiate yourself from other candidates that have presented their CV for that same position. In addition, the Thank You Letter will give you the opportunity to answer possible negative aspects about your candidacy for the job in question by providing reasons that minimize them.

Preparation

After the interview, take some notes about the information you have obtained about the company and the future job, its challenges and inconveniences.

Think again why you are the best candidate for that company and write one or two phrases that demonstrate this fact.
