Metasearcher

  • What is the Metasearcher?

The Metasearcher is a tool that makes it possible to make simultaneous searches in a selection of electronic resources (Digital Library databases, electronic journals, web pages, etc.) on a single search screen, and links up with the full-text if available.

    When to use the Metasearcher?

The Metasearcher allows you to run an initial search on a particular subject and quickly find the information you are interested in that is available in various databases. For instance, articles by an author in all electronic journal databases in the Digital Library.

    It will be useful when:

    - You don't know which database to start searching
    - You want a panoramic view of the different types of information available
    - You want to find out which database contains more information on your subject
    - You want to run a quick and straightforward search
    - You want to make sure you don't overlook possible resources of interest
    - You want to find an article but you can't remember which database it's in
Please note that the Metasearcher is not intended to replace the advanced search facilities available in other databases of the Digital Library.
For in-depth research and searches involving more detailed subjects we recommend running separate searches in each database, taking advantage of the sophisticated search options offered by the different databases in the Digital Library.
